
WHO I AM
Laura Capretti approaches her musical studies after having performed jazz music from an early age and studied languages and literature. She graduated in both the three-year and the following master course of studies in vocal chamber music at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Turin, obtaining the highest marks and special mention under the supervision of Professor Erik Battaglia, with whom she collaborated as his assistant at the same University. She has also attended the HfMT in Hamburg under the guidance of Professor Burkhard Kehring, and has taken part in the Deutsche Lied-Akademie lessons with Axel Bauni, Anne Le Bozec, Peter Nelson, Jan Philip Schulze.
As regards the operatic repertoire, she is accompanied by her teacher the soprano Luciana Serra.
She was granted a De Sono scholarship and the Alberto Motta – Erga Omnes Onlus scholarship and she won the International Renzo Giubergia Award.
She is engaged in intense concert activities, performing in leading roles for numerous Festivals and Institutions (such as many concerts for Unione Musicale in Turin, the Schubertiadi in honour of great baritone Dietrich Fischer- Dieskau; MiTo Festival; Expressionism Festival in Turin; Lingotto Musica; Mantova Chamber Music Festival; with Helena Winkelmann’s Camerata Variabile; for Amici dell’Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI; concert in memory of Leone Sinigaglia; music in memory of Wilhelm Killmayer in Hamburg; Festival della Piana del Cavaliere, Wiener Saal concerts at the Mozarteum University; voice and solo-cellos evening together with great cellist Giovanni Sollima…).

She was invited to Manamah by the Italian Embassy of Bahrein as the European representative for a Lieder and Opera concert during the Spring of Culture Festival.
In 2020 she recorded Schubert’s Winterreise for Unione Musicale, together with Erik Battaglia.
She debuted in the leading role of Frasquita in Hugo Wolf’s “Der Corregidor” in Torino and Zita (Gianni Schicchi), La Maestra delle Novizie (Suor Angelica) and Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel) at the Berlin Opera Academy.
She is a member of the Trio La Sérénade (voice, nineteenth-century- guitar and baroque flute) that performed on the National TV Channel Rai3 and was invited for a tournée in China in 2023 and 2026. She also founded the Lieder-vocal-chamber-music Ensemble “I Liederisti Italiani”. Furthermore, she is a member of the Artistic Committee of Contrametric Ensemble – ETS.

In 2023 she recorded a CD for Elegia Classics label, featuring sacred and operatic music by Händel for voice and organ.
In 2023 she performed in “Sonic Blossom”, a worldwide famous installation by artist Lee Mingwei, that took place in the Oriental Art Museum in Turin (MAO) in 2023.
She combines her activity as an operatic and chamber music performer with a strong passion for the diffusion of the vocal repertoire which also expands into concert-lessons, unconventional performances and in-depth studies and research, such as the English translation of Erik Battaglia’s Anthology of Lieder for Ricordi, with the preface by Thomas Hampson.
Since 2024, she has been involved as a singer in a tour for Matthias Matelli’s theatrical show “Heretics, the Fire of Free Spirits”, which debuted as a national premiere at the Cucinelli theatre.
